Pascoag Hose Company
#1 was formed on November 10, 1903, in the voting booth in downtown
Pascoag. Its members were all Pascoag firemen who wanted to enjoy a
social atmosphere while providing professional services to the
community. In 1905, the Company moved its meeting place to the
Sayles Avenue Fire Station, and in 1939 the Company moved to its
current location at the Main Street Fire Station.
Pascoag Hose Company #1 currently has a roll of 28 members who act
in a social capacity in addition to providing fire and rescue
services for the Pascoag Fire District. Though all Pascoag
firefighters must be members of a Hose Company, and Hose Company
members must be Pascoag firefighters, the organizations are separate
entities. Hose Company #1 members gather at the fire station once
every month to discuss ongoing issues such as financial stability
and upcoming events. Persons who join the Hose Company are
probationary members for one year, after which time they are voted
into full membership and are given full voting power.
Hose Company #1 is
led by a set of five officers, who are given certain roles and
responsibilities within the Company as described below.

Hose Company #1
holds many fundraising events throughout the year to support the
continued sponsorship of league teams and other non-profit
organizations throughout the area. These fundraisers include, but
are not limited to: annual May breakfasts, annual Christmas
lighting ceremonies, and annual boot drives. The Hose Company
also sponsors blood drives in conjunction with the Rhode Island
Blood Center. The company is also a member of the Northern Rhode
Island Firemen's League and the Rhode Island State Firemen's
League.
The Hose Company
celebrates its anniversary every November with a banquet that
includes dinner, dancing and numerous raffles. At this annual
banquet, the Company recognizes two members for their exemplary
service to the Company. The first of these awards is the Jack
Almeida EMT of the Year Award, named after a former Pascoag Fire
Department EMS Captain. The second is the Nicholas Sabella
Firefighter of the Year Award, named in honor of the Pascoag Fire
Department's eighth Chief. Below is the list of all past
